Nieuwe versie van ISO-standaard PDF/A-2

De International Standards Organization (ISO) heeft een nieuwe versie van de ISO-standaard PDF/A uitgegeven: PDF/A-2. In deze nieuwe versie kan onder andere gebruik gemaakt worden van JPEG2000-compressie, lagen en transparantie, betere archiveringsmogelijkheden, het invoegen van OpenType-lettertypes en het toevoegen van digitale handtekeningen.

Uit het persbericht van ISO:

Version 2 of the PDF/A Standard is more advanced than the original as it is based on a more recent version, PDF 1.7 (ISO 32000-1), rather than PDF 1.4. This offers a number of useful technical innovations: highly efficient JPEG2000 compression, support for transparency effects and layers, and embedding of OpenType fonts as well as provisions for digital signatures in accordance with the PAdES (PDF Advanced Electronic Signatures) standard. It also offers the possibility to embed PDF/A files in PDF/A-2, allowing archiving of sets of documents as individual documents in a single file.
